Structures We Work With
Your basement water extraction project is different from any other and requires its own specialized action plan, cut to fit the particular needs of your situation. To ensure every customer receives the same quality service, we start with a general set of extraction/restoration guidelines. After assessing your premises, our restoration team will draft a fine-tuned plan of procedures to fix the flood damage problems in your basement. Our people are trained and experienced in basement water extraction and remediating any secondary damages or biohazards that result.
Our restoration teams are accustomed to working in extreme conditions in a variety of structures – single- and multi-family housing, commercial property, and more. It’s all part and parcel to the kinds of projects Soil-Away has successfully handled since 1990.
Step 1: The First Inspection
First, our techs will find the water’s point of entry which might be a faulty window or door or a ruptured pipe. Whatever the source, it must be stopped. As in any other flooding emergency, the water and its damages will be classified which will dictate the precise plan of procedure. Then an action plan is drafted for your authorization and approval.
Step 2: The Dry Down
After authorizing our plan, we will move the project forward. Truck-mounted pumps will remove the water from your basement along with any other standing pools inside your property. Water should not stand for long or it will stagnate, increasingriskof biohazards like black mold and mildew. Secondary damages like these are preventable by our dry down methods that quickly eliminate the water that micro-organisms need to survive.
Our restoration/remediation techs will search for any toxic molds that have already settled into your property. Using moisture sensing equipment – such as hydrometers – our experts will look for any hidden moisture pockets that have formed in the walls, under flooring, or other places where microbial infestations might take hold and flourish. Eliminating excessive and/or hidden moisture is they key element in a successful project.
Step 3: The Restoration
All contents in the basement and other affected areas will be removed. We can put your salvageable items in a storage facility until the job is finished. However, unsalvageable contents – such as ruined carpets, flooring, drywall, and other things will be torn out then replaced after everything is thoroughly cleaned and dried. All the torn-out debris and other unsalvageable items will be taken away for appropriate disposal.
Affected areas will be treated with powerful sanitizers and high-grade antimicrobial formulas, effectively reducing risks of biohazards. Then, we will stabilize your basement’s moist and damp environment with large air dehumidifiers and fans. Excess moisture will be extracted from the air, and dried from all surfaces.
Step 4: The Final Inspection
Finally, our people will help move your possessions back into place. Our team will conduct a final inspection of the property to ensure all problem areas have been restored, followed by a walk-through of the basement with you at which time we will explain our extraction and restoration procedures and answer any questions.
Step 5: Processing the Insurance Claim
As a final courtesy, we will help you process the insurance claim. We have worked very favorably with many of the insurance providers in our service area. Any documentation or pictures we have that shows the conditions of your basement before and after our restoration will be shared with your agent to ensure a fair compensation per the terms of your policy.
